Human Factors in Motor Carrier Safety

We are chairing a CCMTA task force aimed at drafting a risk-based, scientifically sound strategy targeting the driver errors that are responsible for more than 90% of heavy vehicle crashes. The task force will (1) review crash causation studies, (2) identify driver errors, (3) review best practices addressing these errors, (4) review actual interventions in Canada and (5) draft a global strategy for interventions and future needs in terms of research and development. This strategy will focus mainly on fatigue, distraction and high-risk driving behaviors.
