While the definition of alternative fuels can vary, it generally refers to energy sources other than the traditional petroleum ones such as gasoline and diesel fuel. Alternative fuel sources can offer many benefits, including reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions or other vehicle pollutants.
The ecoTECHNOLOGY for Vehicles (eTV) program is currently evaluating a number of vehicles that use alternative fuel technologies, including the GMC Sierra 1500 that is equipped with a hydrogen internal combustion engine, and the Vectrix and the Zero S electric motorcycles.
