38.1 General requirements

The general requirements for a Specialized Passenger Safety Management (Ro-Ro Vessels) certificate or endorsement are listed in section 158 of the Marine Personnel Regulations. The requirements for the certificate or the endorsement are essentially the same, only the format changes: an applicant who holds any other STCW-endorsed certificate will be issued an endorsement to that certificate, while an applicant with no other STCW certificate will be issued a stand-alone certificate.

38.2 Validity of certificates and endorsements

This certificate or endorsement is valid on ro-ro vessels that carry a passenger, and is required under subsection 229(1) of the Marine Personnel Regulations for a person on the muster list assigned with the duties listed in that subsection of the Regulations.
