Marine Transportation in Canada

From Transport Canada

Current status: Closed
End date: September 30, 2016

About the consultation

The Government of Canada is developing a long-term agenda for marine transportation in Canada. As more goods are being shipped from our coasts, we wanted your input to identify actions to improve Canada’s current marine safety system.

Who and What

We consulted Canadians, transportation stakeholders, provinces and territories and Indigenous groups on:

  • how we can further improve marine safety; and
  • how we can formalize a moratorium on British Columbia’s north coast to protect our waters and coastlines while continuing to realize the economic benefits of shipping.

Your ideas on marine safety and a crude oil tanker moratorium on British Columbia’s north coast will contribute to develop measures to better protect Canada’s waters and coastlines.
