Policy Statement

Air operators wishing to conduct ILS/PRM approach operations require Operations Specification 602.

Applicability

This policy applies to all air operators wishing to conduct ILS/PRM approach operations.

Operations Specification 602 - Simultaneous Operations on Parallel or Near Parallel Instrument Runways - ILS/PRM and Localizer type Directional Aid (LDA)/PRM - Simultaneous Offset Instrument Approaches (SOIA).

Background

ILS/PRM approach operations are conducted at several airports in the United States of America. The Federal Aviation Administration will issue Canadian air operators approval to conduct these approach operations based on a Transport Canada issued operations specification.

Air operators wishing to conduct these approach operations must carry out training to obtain and maintain the required operations specification.

Policy

Inspectors shall ensure that an air operator's ILS/PRM training program conforms to the referenced guidance material, prior to issuing the operator with Operations Specification 602.

Future Disposition

This Policy Letter will remain in effect until the guidance material can be updated.
